2020 Know-Your-Rights Toolkit for Unaccompanied Youth & Families Who Lack Stable Housing Homelessness is traumatic, especially for children, who lose their neighborhood, friendships, routines, and even school. And during COVID-19, homelessness can have even more dire consequences for families. But the federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act protects youth’s right to stay in their school. 2019 State Index on Youth Homelessness Each year, True Colors United and the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty collaborate to research, analyze, and publish an annual State Index on Youth Homelessness (the Index) that measures, scores and reports on the systems, environment, and laws of all states as they relate to preventing and ending youth homelessness.
